This collection contains the correspondence, lecture and research notes, grant applications, and general files of the Francis Wright Professor of Physics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Ali Javan.
Ali Javan (1926-2016) earned a PhD in physics from Columbia University in 1954. He worked at Bell Laboratories, he joined the faculty of the Department of Physics, Massachusetts Institute of Technology(MIT) in 1961 as an associate professor of physics. In 1978 Javan was named the first Francis Wright Professor of Physics at MIT, and became an emeritus professor in 1996.
