University of New Hampshire. College of Engineering and Physical Sciences
University of New Hampshire former College of Engineering and Physical Sciences faculty files, 1868-1992.
This collection contains the personnel card file system from the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences (CEPS). A card was made for each person employed by the college -- faculty of all ranks, graduate assistants, research and special projects staff and temporary staff. The card contains personal biographical information and the employment history with the university. The cards were continuously updated until the individual left the college. They stopped making new cards for the file sometime in the late 1970's but continued to update existing cards until the 1990's. There are also a few individual items, such as a list of the deans with biographical information, faculty from the 1960s and some directories.
The New Hampshire College of Agriculture and the Mechanic Arts was established in 1866. In 1911, a major reorganization of the entire institution took place. Three divisions were established: the Agricultural Division, the Engineering Division and the Arts and Sciences Division. When the College became the University in 1923, the Engineering Division became the College of Technology. In 1976, to make the name more descriptive of what the college actually does, the college was renamed the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences.
