Seabrook Nuclear Power Plant (N.H.)
Seabrook Nuclear Power Station papers, 1970-1979.
The Seabrook Nuclear Power Station papers contains forty-three publications related to the licensing of the Seabrook Station nuclear power plant, dating from 1970 to 1979.
Seabrook Station is a 1,220 megawatt nuclear fueled electric generating plant located in Seabrook, New Hampshire. In 1972 the Public Service Company of New Hampshire filed an application with the New Hampshire Site Evaluation Committee and the Public Utilities Commission to build twin nuclear reactors at Seabrook, New Hampshire. It was originally projected that the plant would reach completion in 1979, but a long licensing process (up to 50 licenses and permits were needed to gain approval) and environmental opposition delayed service until August of 1990. Plans to build the second reactor were later abandoned. Today Florida Power and Light owns over 80% of Seabrook Stations shares.
