Scripps Institution of Oceanography North Pacific Study bumblebee buoy data, 1968-1972.
John Isaacs deployed bumblebee buoys during North Pacific Study, 1968-1972. The data in this accession consists of 35mm b/w film taken of each buoys instrument panel during deployment. Each buoy contained instruments for continuous recording of wind speed and direction, water temperature down to 1,500 feet, barometric pressure, and solar radiation. Included are preliminary cruise reports for some of the cruises. This raw data has never been published in its entirety.
The North Pacific Study was undertaken by John Isaacs and other scientists at Scripps Institution of Oceanography from 1968 to 1972. The primary objectives of this program was to study the relationship between oceanographic and meteorological conditions over the North Pacific Ocean, and to study the relationship between Pacific Ocean conditions and climatic conditions over North America.
