Dr. Konrad Gelbke, University Distinguished Professor of Physics, describes how he entered the field of physics, starting in Germany. He describes the research and benefits flowing from the once coupled-cyclotron at the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory (NSCL). Additionally, he describes his experience being the laboratory director and how particular decisions and processes led to the lab's success and future posturing.
Claus Konrad Gelbke is a physicist focusing on nuclear structure who was born in 1947, received a Dr. rer. nat from University of Heidelberg (1973) and has spent the majority of his career as a professor of physics at Michigan State University and director of the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory (NSCL).
