Stern, David Peter, 1931-
A brief history of magnetospheric physics before 1957, May 1988.
Booklet prepared by David P. Stern for the National Aeronautic and Space Administration's (NASA) Laboratory for Extraterrestrial Physics at the Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) on the history of magnetospheric physics pre-1957. Topics discussed include: geomagnetism, the sunspot cycle, solar flares, electron beams, the Chapman-Ferraro Cavity, ring currents, Alfvň's theory, electric fields, interplanetary plasma, polar magnetic storms.
David P. Stern. Studied physics at Hebrew University, Jerusalem and Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa. Worked at University of Maryland (1959-1961); Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) (1961-2001). At GSFC, Stern studied the magnetosphere and electrodynamics.
