Lucien M. Osborn lectures, circa 1878.
This collection consists of one notebook containing handwritten lectures of Lucien M. Osborn, as well as programs for various campus events from 1878, when he was a professor of physical sciences.
American professor and university administrator. A.M. and L.L.D, Denison University (1872). Professional experience includes: Hamilton Academy (1849-1850); Morrisville (1850-1851); principal of grammar school, from adjunct professor to professor, Madison University (later known as Colgate University) (1851-1892). At Madison University, Osborn served as a professor of: mathematics (1851-1857); mathematics and natural philosophy (1857-1868); natural sciences (1868-1877); physical sciences (1877-1891); and physics and astronomy (1891-1892).
