Edwin A. Uehling papers, 1925-1984.
Correspondence, diaries, photos, lecture notes, research files, and memorabilia, for the most part documenting the teaching and research career of Uehling, whose research interests included theoretical physics (mathematical physics) centering on statistical mechanics, positron theory, magnetic moments (nuclear moments), and nuclear induction, but also including communications with national and international colleagues on a variety of subjects. Of special note are photos of persons attending the University of Michigan Summer Institutes in 1930, 1932, 1936, and 1940; snapshots (1933) of Werner Heisenberg in Leipzig, Germany; and diaries kept by Uehling during his residence in Leipzig, 1933-1934.
Professor of physics, University of Washington (1936-1941), 1945-1984) and director of operations, U. S. Office of Scientific Research and Development (1944-1945).
