Correspondence primarily relating to the history of the American Physical Society, most of it from the late 1940s when the organization was preparing to celebrate its semi-centennial (1949). Correspondents include: Lyman J. Briggs, Karl T. Compton, Gordon Ferrie Hull, Ernest Merritt, Rudolf Ladenburg, Robert A. Millikan, Rogers D. Rusk. Of interest is the correspondence in search of the two women who were present at the first meeting of the APS in 1899, Isabelle Stone and Marcia Keith.
