Yan, Kangnian. 1935-
Formation of traditions and styles of study of Bell Telephone Laboratories.
A paper resulting from Professor Yan's study of Bell Laboratories at the Niels Bohr Library at the American Institute of Physics in 1994. He attributes the success of Bell Labs to its clear mission to develop communication technology and better and cheaper services. He discusses the central importance of research to its success, and the impact of each of its presidents on the mission. Two pages of references are included.
