Renzetti, N. A.
Earth Science Projects collection, 1970-1991.
The collection consists of material relating to various Earth science projects conducted by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), and the European Space Agency. Primary focus in the collection is toward geodesy, the study of the Solid Earth, geodynamics, and crustal dynamics.
1972, NASA created the Earth and Ocean Physics Applications Program (EOPAP). 1977, NASA initiated a Geodynamics Program. 1979, Crustal Dynamics Project was formed withing Geodynamics Program. 1989, NASA Solid Earth Science (SES) Branch formed. 1979, JPL created its own Crustal Dynamics Project managed by Nicholas A. Renzetti. 1984, JPL assigned to develop differential GPS instrumentation and data processing techniques. 1988, GPS program transferred to Office of Space Science and Instrumentation, and was transferred to project manager W. G. Melbourne.
