Charles Baldwin Sawyer: scientist and businessman; early development of the beryllium and Rochelle salt industries. Graduated from Yale University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Founded the Brush Development Company with Charles F. Brush, Jr.. Also founded the Brush Beryllium Company and was instrumental in the development of modern uses for beryllium in nuclear physics and in rocketry.
