Stephen Alexander letter, 1837, June 9, Princeton, to "My dear sir."
Letter reports the whereabouts and activities of Joseph Henry, his brother-in-law, and A.D. Bache and lists the "scientific men of London" with whom they were in contact, including Faraday, Wheatstone, Babbage, Barlow, Dr. Gregory and a Professor Powell of Oxford.
American astronomer. Education: Union College, Princeton University. Professional experience: professor of astronomy, Princeton University; president, American Association for the Advancement of Science (1859), National Academy of Sciences (1862). Research interests: the atmospheres of Venus, Mercury, and Jupiter, and solar eclipses.
