Records of the Director's Office, divided into several collections. General files (1920-2000) include correspondence, memoranda, reports, printed materials, and other documentation, and are strongest for the tenures of Abraham Flexner, Frank Aydelotte, J. Robert Oppenheimer and Harry Woolf. Faculty Files (1923-2005), Member Files (1933-2002), and Visitor and Assistant Files (1935-2005) track scholars through various stages of their involvement with the Institute. Files by School (1933-1992) contain administrative records about each of the Schools. The Electronic Computer Project subseries (1946-1969, undated) consists of administrative papers on funding, personnel, disposition of the Institute Computer, press coverage, and other topics.
