Correspondence; minutes; membership lists; constitution and bylaws. Correspondence (1952-1963) of John A. Norris, with accompanying minutes of meetings and membership lists, in his capacity as treasurer of the Southern Association of Spectrographers, vice-president of the Southeastern Association of Spectrographers, and president of the Southeastern Section of the Society for Applied Spectroscopy. Primarily concerns preliminary arrangements for meetings as well as the constitution and revisions thereof which allowed for the founding of the Association in 1952, the name change in 1954, and the demise of its independent status in joining the Society for Applied Spectroscopy in 1959.
This professional society of persons interested in all phases of spectroscopy was founded in 1958. Its purpose is to further interest in the field of spectroscopy, provide an exchange of ideas and methods between members, and promote fellowship among its membership. The Southeastern Section is one of its local groups.
