The collection includes professional correspondence, memoranda, photographs, stereographs, reprints, research notebooks, newspaper clippings, and formal reports of petrologist Frederick Eugene Wright. The collection also includes some family correspondence, including letters of condolence at the time of Fredericks death and later his familys distribution of his National Academy of Science Biographical Memoir in 1956.
American optician and geophysicist. His various specialties included the physical features of the surface of the moon, and in 1925, he was appointed the chair of the "Committee on Study of Surface Feature of Moon" of the Carnegie Institution of Washington. Wright remained at the Carnegie Institution until his retirement in 1944. At the time of his death, he was considered the foremost authority on the Moon.
