AIP Publishing Division Peer X-Press backup files, 2002-2013.
Collection consists of 152 backup tapes, mostly LT03 but including some AIT2 and AIT3, all encoded in EMC NetWorker. The collection has been estimated at 43 TB. The data consists of article files purged from AIP's proprietary Peer X-Press (PXP) journal peer review system. Much of this article data is duplicated in AIP Publishing's collection of article PDFs. AIP Publishing's PXP database houses all metadata related to these articles, as well as all reviews and correspondence.
The American Institute of Physics (AIP) is a not-for-profit membership corporation which began in 1931 for the purpose of promoting the advancement and diffusion of the knowledge of physics and its application to human welfare. Its members are leading societies in the fields of physics and astronomy, and its activities include providing services to its member societies in publishing, finance, and education. AIP publishes scientific journals reporting original research in all the principal areas of physics and allied sciences including translation journals and journals on behalf of its member societies. The Publications Division handles this principal responsibility of the AIP.
