The collection consists of typewritten manuscripts and related material co-authored or written by Sverdrup: two manuscript versions of The Oceans: Their Physics, Chemistry and General Biology, including a scrapbook and loose draft material; the manuscript for Wind, Waves and Swell; and a data summary report entitled The Waters Off the Coast of Southern California.
