Topics include the establishment of REVIEWS OF MODERN PHYSICS (1926-1929); the establishment and subsequent meetings of the regional sections of the American Physical Society (APS), New England Section (1932-1941), Metropolitan Section (1932-1942), and Southeastern Section (1935-1945); annual meetings of the APS (1936-1942); and general correspondence (1927-1943). Also included is correspondence concerning foreign membership, the 50th anniversary celebration of the APS, and journal subscriptions. Financial statements (1933-1934, 1956-1957), concern the APS Finance Committee and Publication Funds. Correspondents include: Raymond T. Birge, Karl T. Compton, Karl K. Darrow, William S. This professional society of educators, industrial and government research workers, and students of physics and related fields, was established in 1899 to promote the advancement and diffusion of the knowledge of physics. It was a founding member society of the American Institute of Physics.
