James Rhyne Killian papers, 1923-1988.
The papers include correspondence, reports, financial data, publicity material and minutes of board meetings from the Carnegie Commission on Educational Television and from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting; correspondence and speeches as Special Assistant to the President for Science and Technology, 1957-1959; background information, publicity and manuscript drafts for Sputnik, Scientists and Eisenhower; correspondence, financial data, notes, and photographs from the Atoms for Peace Awards and a manuscript draft of Proceedings of the Atoms for Peace Awards; and NATO Commission reports and correspondence. Killians professional and personal life from 1923 to 1985. The bulk of the accession dates from 1957 to 1984 and deals primarily with his non-MIT professional activities. Cassette tape recording of an interview with Killian in 1982 in which he describes research at MIT, especially during World War II, including the MIT Radiation Laboratory.
