The material includes: correspondence between Niels Bohr and his wife Margrethe; very scanty correspondence of Bohr's father, physiologist Christian Bohr (1855-1911), e.g. with his teacher Carl Ludwig in Germany; family correspondence of Bohr's wide, Margrethe, (especially with her mother, Sophie Nr̜lund (1862-1926)), and of Bohr's mother, Ellen ně Adler (1860-1930); letters of Bohr's sister, Jenny; correspondence of Paula Strelitz, cousin of Bohr's mother and sometime director of the journal branch of the Springer Press; correspondence of Bohr's maternal aunt, the educator Hanna Adler (1959-1947), e.g. in relation to her journey in 1893-1894 to survey U.S. education; scientific correspondence of Kirstine Meyer ně Bjerrum, (1861-1941) about her research in history of science, primarily concerning Ole Rm̜er, astronomer, (1644-1710) and his invention of the thermometer, her edition of the collected works of H. C. Orsted, physicist (1777-1851) (Meyer who was not related to Bohr, was together with Hanna Adler among the first Danish women to obtain a Ph.D. in physics and pursued a successful career as writer and educator); and letters of numerous other relatives.
