The Position of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in the University, the State and the Nation [sound recording], 1951.
The collection consists of 17 reel-to-reel audio tape recordings of addresses delivered March 25-27, 1951, at a conference held at Scripps Institution of Oceanography in La Jolla, to celebrate the opening of the Thomas Wayland Vaughan Aquarium-Museum and celebrating the 83rd Charter Day of the University of California. Recordings are 7-inch reel-to-reel tapes, run at 7 1/2 ips speed. Speakers include Roger Revelle, Claude ZoBell, Norris Rakestraw, B. B. Cox, A. Redfield, D. Merriman, Carl Eckart, Francis Shepard, Carl Leavitt Hubbs, Detlev Bronk, and others. A rough tanscript was made for the tape. The tapes are audible, but in poor condition. Some have breaks and include loud background noises.
