National Museum of American History Superconducting Super Collider (SSC) collection, 1985-1992.
The collection is comprised bound volumes, correspondence, newspaper clippings, oversize maps, and some ephermera collected by NMAH curators for possible inclusion in that portion of the "Science in American Life" exhibit that focuses on the SSC story. Includes materials from each of the states selected by the DOE as finalists in the site competition, representing documents created by both supporters and opponents of the SSC. hightlights include sets of original site proposals from all states except one (Texas), maps of proposed SSC sites, extensive newspaper clipping files from local and regional newspapers, and other items such as bumper stickers, placards, posters and signs.
