Dinah L. Moche papers, 1966-1995.
Collection contains correspondence, legal documents, notes, course schedules, exams, etc., relating to sex discrimination allegations brought against Queensborough Community College by physics professor Dinah L. Moch.̌
A graduate of Radcliffe College (B.A. 1958) and Columbia University (M.A. 1961, Ph.D 1976), Moch ̌has taught physics at Queensborough Community College of the City University of New York since 1965. The only woman ever to be a member of the QCC physics department, Moch ̌filed a sex discrimination suit against QCC/CUNY in 1976; the New York State Division of Human Rights found "probable cause." She continued her struggle for equal treatment during the 1980s and 1990s. Moch ̌is the author of over 20 books and lectures widely to lay audiences. She was a National Science Foundation Faculty Fellow (1976) and was invited to the White House for a conference on America's Future in Space (1984).
