These papers document Wilsons career during his time at Harvard University. The bulk of the material (44 cubic feet) is in the Correspondence series which covers all aspects of Wilsons professional activities. Material relating to Wilsons teaching may be found in two smaller series, the Student correspondence series and the Lecture notes series. Student correspondence contains correspondence with and about former students and post-doctoral fellows, including letters of recommendation, notes, and reports. The Lecture notes series contains Wilsons notes for chemistry courses he taught at Harvard, including statistical mechanics. Problem sets and examinations for some courses are included. Also in this series are lecture notes identified as "Paris" and "Belgium."
Edgar Bright Wilson (1908-1992),doctorate, California Institute of Technology (1933). Physical chemist, was a leader in the study of molecules through spectroscopy. He was the Theodore William Richards Professor of Chemistry at Harvard University from 1947 to 1979.
