National Air and Space Museum sound archives, circa 1950-1988.
This collection consists of audiotape recordings on aviation and space-related topics, and include many interviews with space scientists, astronomers and astronauts. The tapes are primarily record copy recordings of the National Air and Space Museum (NASM) events or recordings of non-NASM events made by NASM personnel. The material covers a wide variety of event formats, including meetings, lectures, interviews, ceremonies, presentations, broadcasts, and press conferences.
The Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum maintains the largest collection of historic air and spacecraft in the world. It is also a vital center for research into the history, science, and technology of aviation and space flight, as well as planetary science and terrestrial geology and geophysics
