William T. Golden papers, 1950-1989 (bulk 1950-1951).
Photocopy of an unpublished volume entitled "Government Military-Scientific Research: Review for the President of the United States, 1950-1951," containing memoranda relating to Golden's conversations with 150 individuals at the request of Harry S. Truman in order to organize the government's scientific efforts following the outbreak of the Korean War. Collection also contains reprints of articles relating to the President's Science Advisory Committee, a review of Golden's published work, "Science and Technology Advice to the President, Congress, and Judiciary," and a report entitled "Science and Technology and Government" compiled by the Carnegie Corporation of New York.
Scientist. Atomic Energy Commission (1946-1950); special consultant to President Truman to review government science activities (1950-1951), which led to creation of President's Science Advisory Committee.
