(1914-2003) American astrophysicist. Ph.D., physics (California Institute of Physics, 1941). Professor of theoretical physics (California Institute of Technology). Research interests included cosmic rays, solar physics, and interplanetary space. Davis was involved with the Pioneer and Mariner spacecrafts and was a consultant with Aerojet, the Space Technology Laboratories, and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
