Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory. Physics Division
LBL Physics Division John A. Kadyk records of 25-Inch Bubble Chamber experiments, 1959-1974 (bulk 1961-1974).
Records series documents Kadyk's research and that of the Trilling Group in particle physics at the Bevatron and initial work at the Positron-Electron Project (PEP). Logbooks, binders and folders contain experimental reports, notes, and graphs on hadron production in electron-positron collisions and on the use of bubble chambers to study pion, kaon, lambda, and hyperon particle interactions. The records covering 1959 through the 1960s document the Trilling-Goldhaber Group's use of the 25-inch non-hydrogen bubble chamber to study hyperon-proton interactions, and identify lambda, kaon, sigma, xi, and strange particles as observed in gamma ray production. In the late 1960s, Kadyk and his colleagues studied neutral W bosons and lambda-and kaon-proton (Experiments 30, 76 and 128) resonances and the properties of hyperons. In 1971, the Trilling-Goldhaber Group began collaboration with the SLAC (Stanford Linear Accelerator Center) in detecting weak interactions at the Positron-Electron Project (PEP).
