Iowa State University John Franklin Carlson Lecture records, 1955-1969.
This collection contains transcripts and audio recordings of the John Franklin Carlson Lecture series at Iowa State University. The audiotapes contain recordings of lectures given by J. Robert Oppenheimer, Neils Bohr, and P. W. Bridgeman.
John Franklin Carlson (Ph.D., physics, University of California, Berkeley) was a professor of physics at Iowa State University from 1946 until 1954. Following his death, the John Franklin Carlson Lecture Fund was established at Iowa State University, to bring a scientist each year to give the John Franklin Carlson Lecture on some aspect of physical science, its philosophical implications, and its relation to human affairs. The first John Franklin Carlson Lecturer was J. Robert Oppenheimer.
