SLAC Accelerator Operations records, 1965-1980.
Archival records consist of accelerator logbooks, 1965-1980, including Main Control Center (MCC) logbooks, 1966-1980 (200 bound notebooks) including Central Control Room (CCR) logs, Linac beam logs, parameter logs and security logs, and chief operator logs. Current records include operations directives and procedures, recent MCC and Positron-Electron Project (PEP) logs (1980-); shift schedules, Turn-on checklists (Beam switch yard, Final Focus, End Station A, PEP); PEP, Stanford Positron Electron Accelerator Ring (SPEAR) and Stanford Linear Collider (SLC) technical procedures (all points); security log, radiation surveys, safety and training guidelines and procedures. In addition, there are ten volumes of SPEAR operations logs (1972-present), predominantly regarding installation, evaluation and operation of magnets; SPEAR operations memos; and program and data for a SPEAR magnet evaluation database developed by Gerhard Fischer.
Accelerator Operations, a division of Accelerator Systems, is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the linear accelerator and training and safety of the accelerator operations staff.
