Harvard Cyclotron Laboratory records, 1930-2002, undated.
Collection includes: poster exhibits, environmental health and safety records, instructions for operators, correspondence, minutes, photographs, construction records, personnel records, drawings of a proposed proton accelerator, logs and analysis of experiments, blueprints, technical notes, memorabilia, clippings, speeches, treatment display boards, annual reports, and progress reports documenting the history of the Harvard Cyclotron Laboratory, Jefferson Physical Laboratory, and the Harvard Department of Physics. Also includes records, correspondence, presentations, and contracts of assistant director Andreas Kartin Koehler.
The Harvard Cyclotron Laboratory operated from 1949-2002. It was built for use in physics experiments, and replaced an earlier cyclotron which had been sent to Los Alamos for the Manhattan Project. Starting in 1961, it was used for radiotherapy.
