This collection houses a variety of materials commemorating the life of Dr. Alvin H. Nielsen, including biographical information, memorial service programs and articles, and items document the Alvin Nielsen Physics Building at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
(1910-1994): Ph.D., University of Michigan (1934); research fellow at Ohio State University, but left in 1935 to joint faculty of University of Tennessee; served as research associate for the Office of Scientific Research and Development at Ohio State University Research Foundation (1944-1946) and as a consultant for the Oak Ridge Gaseous Diffusion Plant Laboratories and the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (1947-1980).
