Professional experience includes: teaching staff, University of Berlin (1925-1932); researcher in nuclear physics, St. Bartholomew's Hospital, London and Clarendon Laboratory, Oxford (1935-1938); researcher in atomic energy, Columbia University (1939-1942); researcher in metallurgy laboratory, professor, University of Chicago (1942-1964).
