This collection includes materials on Richard P. Phillips's work in geophysics and seismology. The travel files document personal and professional travel from 1975-1981. Baja files document Phillips' gravity investigations of Baja California, Mexico conducted from 1964 to 1978 with support from the National Science Foundation and in cooperation with the Universidad Autonoma de Baja; these files include gravity data, altimetry, base station information, grant proposals and contracts, maps and graphs. The Bataquitos Lagoon Study was an investigation of tidal aspects of the lagoon undertaken by Phillips and others at San Diego State University in 1978 under contract with the County of San Diego. The papers also include correspondence, research notebooks and other papers.
