Chemical Club records, 1899-1914.
2 minute books covering the entire period of the Club's existence, 1899-1914; an attendence book, 1905-1914; some miscellaneous loose papers concerning the Club.
The Chemical Club was established by a group of (mostly) graduate students at Oxford in 1899. Its meetings were suspended in 1914, at the beginning of the First World War, and it was never subsequently revived. It was similar in nature to the rival and more enduring Alembic Club (founded in 1901).
