Private papers covering Hargrave's expedition to New Guinea 1872-1877, his work as assistant astronomical observer at the Sydney Observatory 1878-1883, and his research into human flight; the collection is made up of 12 notebooks and includes correspondence, press cuttings, printed material, drawings, diagrams, memoranda and experimental notes.
Aeronautical engineer and astronomer. After participating in several explorations into New Guinea, Hargrave worked as an assistant astronomical observer at the Sydney Observatory, Australia 1878-1883. He then devoted his time to research in aeronautics and human flight.
