In this interview, Bell discusses his path to physics, Moscow University in Sakharov's years, Lebedev Physical Institute of the Russian Academy of Science (FIAN) in the mid-1940s, the Soviet atomic project, relationships in the community of physicists, and prominent Soviet physicists including V. I. Veksler, I. E. Tamm, Andrei Sakharov, S. I. Vavilov.
Russian-American physicist and physiologist. Professional experience includes: nuclear physicist, Lebedev Physical Institute of the Russian Academy of Science (FIAN) (1944-1947); biophysicist, Moscow Institute of Physiology of Plants (circa 1947-1992).
