Marlan Scully, theoretical physicist best known for his work in quantum optics. He received his Ph.D. under Willis Lamb at Yale University in 1965. He has held professorships at Yale University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Arizona, Max Planck Institute, University of New Mexico, Princeton University and Texas A&M. In 2005 he accepted a joint professional appointment at Texas A&M and Princeton Universities.
