This collection consists of manuscripts, core sample photographs, and related geophysics research correspondence.
Surdam received his Ph.D. from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1967. He then became a professor in the Department of Geology and Geophysics at the University of Wyoming. He conducted research in diagenesis and basin analysis. In 1993 he began work at the Institute for Energy Research to research fossil fuel exploration and production.
