(1893-1965) Astronomer, Ph.D. in mathematics, Syracuse University (1920); assistant professor at Case University (1921-1959). Was a pioneer in the study of galactic structure, discovered a new star cluster, and developed a technique for studying the distribution of red (M-class or cooler) stars.
