Douglas Hartree, English mathematician and physicist. Most famous for the development of numerical analysis and its application to the Hartree-Fock equations of atomic physics and the construction of the meccano differential analyzer. Affiliations include: University of Cambridge, 1919-1929; Universitetets Institut for Teoretisk Fysik, 1928-1929; and University of Manchester, 1929-1946.
