Peter E. Glaser papers, 1944-2000 (bulk 1975-1995).
The papers document Glaser's professional career and personal activities from 1944-2000. A large portion of the collection reflects his work in solar energy applications, especially the solar power satellite. Other topics include material documenting different facets of his interest in solar energy; his leadership of the Sunsat Energy Council; his participation in professional organizations; his public appearances and Congressional testimony; numerous papers and reports by Glaser and others detailing the benefits and problems associated with solar power satellites; his other interests in aerospace science and technology; technical reports; his interest in the environment, the commercialization of space, refrigeration technology, and general engineering topics. Also included is material documenting the administration and organization of Arthur D. Little, Inc.
An American scientist and aerospace engineer employed by Arthur D. Little, Inc., Cambridge, MA from 1955-1999; he served as Vice President, Advanced Technology, 1985-1994; subsequently he served as a consultant to the company. In 1978, he formed the Sunsat Energy Council (SUNSAT), an organization associated with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). He was president of the International Solar Energy Society (1968-1969). He was inducted into the Space Technology Hall of Fame of the United States Space Foundation in 1996. Glaser retired in 2005.
