Victor P. Hessler papers, 1955-1966.
The Victor P. Hessler papers consist of 11 field notebooks containing Hessler's research observations on geophysical phenomena between 1955 and 1965. The notebooks include observations recorded at Point Barrow, Northway, and College, Alaska. One additional notebook contains Hessler's report on a trip to the Soviet Union in November 1966 to foster cooperative geophysical research between the United States and the Soviet Union.
(1903-1999) American geophysicist. B.S., Oregon State University (1926); M.S. and Ph.D., Iowa State University (1927, 1934). From 1955 to 1968 he was professor of geophysics at the University of Alaska, where he conducted research in geomagnetism and atmospheric physics.
