Organic Chemist. Research associate in Chemistry, 1932-1972; Emeritus Research Associate from 1972, California Institute of Technology. His researach emphasis was on substances like adrenaline and insulin. After World War II, he served in various U.S. Government science advisory roles, including the first President's Science Advisory Committee under President Eisenhower. He was born in 1904 in Los Angeles and died in 2004 in Santa Brabara, California.
