Robert H. and Esther Goddard papers, 1904-1998.
About a third of the collection is comprised of Robert Goddards papers; the rest of the collection is made up of articles about him and recognition for his work in rocketry and aeronautics. Collection includes: correspondence with Esther Goddard; tributes to Goddard; information about the building and laboratory named for him; clippings and a scrapbook. Robert Goddards personal papers were given to the archives of Clark University.
Physics and rocketry pioneer (1882-1945) Ph.D., Clark University. Rocketry work with the Naval Experiment Station (Annapolis, MD) and the Smithsonian Institution (Washington, DC); namesake of the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. After Goddards death, his wife Esther (Kisk) Goddard devoted the next twenty years to getting recognition for Goddards work. She edited and published his papers (published in 1970), and is credited with bringing his name and achievements into the public consciousness.
