University of California, Los Angeles and San Diego, fluid mechanics engineer, geophysicist, and educator from 1964-2003; associate editor of the JOURNAL OF FLUID MECHANICS beginning in 1966. He is known for research of wave propagation and generation, hydrodynamic stability, and fluid dynamics.
