Early science from the Fermi Gamma-Ray Space Telescope [sound recording], 2009 May 4.
Audio recording of session T4 of the April 2009 annual meeting of the American Physical Society, held in Denver, Colorado in May 2009. This session was co-sponsored by the American Physical Society (APS) Division of Astrophysics (DAP), and chaired by Steven Kahn of the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. Talks (and speakers) include: "Fermi Observations of Gamma-Ray Bursts" (Charles Meegan); "Fermi/LAT Observations of the Extragalactic Gamma-ray Sky" (James Chiang); "Galactic scientific results from the first 6 months of the Fermi/LAT mission" (Troy Porter). Topics discussed include telescopes, gamma-rays and high-energy observations.
This professional society of educators, industrial and government research workers, and students of physics and related fields, was established in 1899 to promote the advancement and diffusion of the knowledge of physics. It was a founding Member Society of the American Institute of Physics.
