Sherwood I [sound recording], 2009 May 3.
Audio recording of session G15 of the April 2009 annual meeting of the American Physical Society, held in Denver, Colorado in May 2009. This session was co-sponsored by the American Physical Society (APS) Sherwood Division of Plasma Physics (DPP), and chaired by Carl Sovinec of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Talks (and speakers) include: "From Fundamental Science to Fusion Energy -- the First 50 Years of Fusion Theory" (Steven Cowley); "Energetic Particle-induced Geodesic Acoustic Mode" (Guoyong Fu); "Flow stabilization of the ideal MHD resistive wall model" (S. P. Smith , S. C. Jardin , J. P. Freidberg , L. Guazzotto). Topics discussed include fusion research, particle acoustics, and resonance.
This professional society of educators, industrial and government research workers, and students of physics and related fields, was established in 1899 to promote the advancement and diffusion of the knowledge of physics. It was a founding Member Society of the American Institute of Physics. The American Physical Society (APS) meetings are a forum for scientists to gather and share research results on a wide range of physics and physics-related topics.
