Rylands (1818-1900), an industrialist of Rylands Brothers (wire manufacturers), had a wide range of scientific and antiquarian interests, including astronomy, microscopy, meteorology, historical geography, archeology, and in earlier life, phrenology. He was active in the municipal life of Warrington until 1871.
